The final texts sent by Jay Slater to his friends have been revealed in a final inquest into his death.
On 17 June 2024, Jay vanished after attending the NRG Music Festival on the island of Tenerife during a holiday with friends.
The 19-year-old apprentice bricklayer decided to head back to a rental property in the mountain village of Masca after losing his friends when the music event finished.
The Brit stayed overnight with two men named Ayub Qassim and Steven Roccas, with the former even claiming he advised the teen to wait to leave, as he would've driven him back.

Despite this, the next morning Jay decided to walk alone back to his hotel in Los Cristianos on foot, an hours-long journey he was continuously advised against.

This is where he went missing, kick-starting a month-long search which sadly ended when his body was discovered 29 days later.
While the search mission garnered a lot of attention on social media, triggering multiple theories over what happened to Jay, it was later discovered that the cause of death was traumatic head injuries caused by a fall from height.
The inquest heard that when he was found in a ravine, his body was 'mummified' due to being out in the sun for so long.

Now, Jay's friends have shared what he may have experienced in his final moments, lost in the mountains in the midst of his attempt to complete a 14-hour walk from one side of the island to another.
His friend claimed he had drunk alcohol and taken ecstasy and cocaine in the evening before his disappearance, possibly taking ketamine too.

'Go back to wherever you just came from'
Lucy Law, a long-time friend of the teen, said she called Jay around 8.30am on 17 June 2024, allegedly saying: "Go back to wherever the f**k you just came from before it gets boiling."

"What on earth are you doing? ‘Where are you?" she asked, before he said that he was 'in the middle of the mountains'.
After asking what he could see, he told her he saw 'nothing. Literally nothing. There's literally just mountains'.
After saying that he needed a drink and asking if cacti were poisonous, Lucy admitted that she was 'panicking' at this point.

'Put your maps on'
Bradley Geoghegan, a mate of Jay's who was on holiday with him, also spoke at the inquest about the teen's final night, where he said that Jay was kicked out of a club for being too drunk.

He claimed that Jay even decided against going back to their apartment and chose to go to an Airbnb miles away with two men he'd met.
Bradley remembers getting a call the next morning, explaining he was walking on a road 'under the influence'.
"I said put your maps on to see how far you were. It was like a 14-hour walk or an hour drive," he explained, adding: "I said, 'Get a taxi back', then he just goes, 'I will ring you back'."
'He probably sobered up'
He added that his late friend probably didn't have any money, as taxis on the island often insist on payment before riding.

"I think he probably got there and thought, 'Why am I here?', sobered up and decided to come back," the witness said when asked if Jay was 'threatened' at all.
Toxicology expert Dr Stephanie Martin said at a hearing in May that analysis of Jay's body revealed traces of MDMA and MDA, along with cocaine and alcohol.
