Kate Middleton’s first royal event confirmed since she had surgery

The Princess of Wales will be making her first official appearance

Kate Middleton's first royal event is now in the diary following her hiatus from public life.

Just a day after she was seen for the first time yesterday (4 March) since December, it has been revealed that the Princess of Wales will be making her first official public appearance for the Trooping of the Colour.

The Ministry of Defence's official website states: "Trooping the Colour reviewed by Her Royal Highness The Princess of Wales is identical to Trooping the Colour reviewed by His Majesty The King, with the exception that some additional mounted officers ride when His Majesty The King is present."

The annual event, which takes place on Horse Guards Parade in London, celebrates the official birthday of the British sovereign - even though his actual day of birth is 14 November.

Following in the footsteps of his late mother Queen Elizabeth II, he is making the most of the summer weather and will be publicly marking his second birthday in June this year.

The second rehearsal is scheduled on 8 June before the main event gets underway on 15 June.

The Princess of Wales spent nearly two weeks at The London Clinic in Marylebone after undergoing abdominal surgery on 16 January before being discharged on 29 January.

The mum-of-three has been recovering privately at home since, although she was pictured for the first time in several weeks yesterday (4 March) while driving with her mother near Windsor Castle in snaps published by TMZ.

Prince William was also reported to be returning to his royal duties after taking time off due to 'personal reasons' after withdrawing from his godfather's memorial service on 27 February.

Conspiracy theories have been swirling on online since Middleton took a break from public life and royal engagements, prompting Kensington Palace to slam the 'madness of social media'.

The palace then said they would not be providing a running commentary on the future queen's condition, adding that she is 'recovering well' and that her surgery was 'non cancerous'.

A statement also encouraged the public to 'understand her desire to maintain as much normality for her children as possible and her wish that her personal medical information remains private'.

The Princess' plans to attend the Trooping the Colour at least suggest she is on the mend and will be on fine form to celebrate with the rest of the royals.

Middleton will not return to her official duties until after Easter.
