A camper's drone footage spotted a strange shape moving in the water which could have been the mythical monster of Loch Ness.

Some people are so eager to find Nessie that they'll scour Scotland's famous Loch Ness in the hopes of catching a glimpse of the beast that supposedly lurks under the water.

Over the years, many have tried to catch the creature but none have succeeded, though some have devoted large chunks of their life towards laying their eyes upon it.

Every now and then someone comes up with another clue to the monster's whereabouts, and a couple of years ago, wild camper Richard Mavor spotted something on his drone footage.

The 54-year-old uploaded the clip on his YouTube channel where he, by accident, caught a mysterious figure swimming on the banks of the loch.

Could this thing in the water be the mythical Loch Ness Monster? We'll let you be the judge.

Speaking to the Daily Record, he said: "I couldn't believe it.

"I had to rewind the footage several times and have watched it several times since. I don't know what it is but it certainly has the same shape as previous sightings of Nessie.

"The more I watch it I think 'crikey! There really wasn't anything in the area that could be'.

"There was no driftwood or anything like that so who knows."

He continued: "We had just parked up and I thought I would get some nice shots on the beach for my YouTube.

"I didn't notice what I had picked up until others told me to watch out for it. It could be a trick of the light but we can't be sure."

The mystery of the Loch Ness Monster has been puzzled over since the 1930's when the first supposed sighting happened in the Scottish Highlands.

The creature is often described as large, long-necked, and with one or more humps protruding from the water and its existence is yet to be proven solidly.

Richard was astonished that he might have caught a glimpse of the Loch Ness Monster.

Richard was taking part in the great glen canoe challenge for Alzheimer's Society, and viewers have been taking to the comments in awe of his efforts.

One user commented: "Fantastic fun to watch this Richard! Your individual 'interviews' were a great idea.

"Drone shots were beautiful to see and the shot that you got from the well wisher of all of you in formation, was spectacular!!!! What a super adventure!

"Thanks for once again for taking us along! And congratulations to you all!"

A second user added: "Well done one and all. What an achievement! Glad you finished 'all together', that made it sort of special and 'United against Dementia'.

"Thanks for all your work on the water and in the 'cutting room'!"
