Netflix gives blunt four-word response to rumours Meghan Markle will star in 'The Gentlemen'
An executive with Netflix gave a four-word response when asked if Meghan Markle would be acting in The Gentlemen by Guy Ritchie.
Markle and her husband Prince Harry have recently confirmed their intentions to return to the UK six years after leaving the country and moving to the US.
It had previously been claimed that Markle, who is known for her role in Suits, would return to acting, including a role in the gangster series on Netflix.
Since then Tina Brown, the former editor-in-chief of New York Magazine and Vanity Fair had reported that the casting had been 'withdrawn' after a backlash in the UK, and now an executive at the streaming service has given a somewhat cryptic answer about the possibility of Markle taking on a role in the series, the Independent reports.

Manda Levin is the Director of Scripted Series in the UK for Netflix, and was asked about Markle taking on a role in the series in an appearance at the Edinburgh TV Festival.
She replied: “All bets are off.”
Well, that's that settled then!
The series stars Theo James and Kaya Scoderlario, and is filmed in the UK, potentially making it useful for Markle once she and her family make their move from the US.
The Gentlemen is a spin-off series of the Guy Ritchie movie of the same name, released in 2019.
This starred Colin Farrell, Matthew McConaughey, and Charlie Hunnam.
It's currently on its second season on Netflix, which is due to premiere on the platform on September 3.
The question has circulated over whether Markle would be joining the cast for the third season, although a third season has not officially been green lit yet.
Markle recently appeared in Amazon MGM Comedy Close Personal Friends starring Bire Larson and Lily Collins, in which she had a cameo as herself.
However, she has not had a full acting role since her engagement to Prince Harry, stepping back from working in 2017.
Markle's most well-known role is as Rachel Zane in Suits, a legal drama in which she played the role over the course of seven seasons of the show.
In addition to her role in Suits Markle also had parts in movies such as Random Encounters, Horrible Bosses, and A Lot Like Love.
The duke and duchess of Sussex confirmed their intentions to move back to the US from their home in California. Their children Princess Lilibet and Prince Archie are reportedly both enrolled in schools in the UK.
Their announcement was met with a furious response from many in the UK, and spared a row about how security for the pair would be covered.
Back in 2020 the duke and duchess confirmed that they would be leaving the UK and stepping back from their duties as royals amid mounting tensions with the royal family.
Questions around where the Sussexes will take up residence upon their return to the UK have also been circulating, and some have suggested that they will live in a non-royal residence outside London.
