Adult star says Pornhub rules 'put us all in danger' as new crackdown begins in UK from today

Pornhub is blaming the government and the Online Safety Act (OSA) for its decision

An adult film star has criticised Pornhub for putting in place further restrictions to its site.

The most-visited porn page in the world has blamed the Online Safety Act (OSA) for forcing it to make a decision on who can access its videos.

In July 2025, the OSA meant that adult film websites in Britain had to comply with age verification checks to prevent children viewing X-rated content.

With 77 percent of Gen Z consuming porn, according to LADbible's 'For F**k's Sake' campaign, it seems that the ones who haven't verified their age may be missing out on Pornhub altogether.

Aylo, the company which owns Pornhub, has announced that from today (2 February) onwards, it will be blocking new users from the UK who have not already verified their age.

Pornhub argued that the OSA didn't actually protect children and, instead, caused traffic to drop by 77 percent.

"Effective February 2, 2026 Aylo will no longer participate in the failed system that has been created in the United Kingdom as a result of the OSA’s introduction," the company said.

"New users in the UK will no longer be able to access Aylo’s content-sharing platforms, including Pornhub, YouPorn, and Redtube. UK users who have verified their age will retain access through their existing accounts."

Ivy Maddox, however, believes that Pornhub's decision will negatively affect everyone involved.

"Pornhub has so many measures to keep contributors safe. If consumers can’t access safe sites, they will go elsewhere, just how the Nordic model will force full-service sex workers into more unsafe work conditions," she told the Daily Star.

She argued that the 'further underground something is pushed, the more dangerous it becomes'.

"If people aren’t able to get onto Pornhub, they will go to other sites where, best case scenario, models' content has been leaked and they don’t make any money from it," Maddox warned.

"Or worst case scenario, the person in the video is not aware that they are online, and did not consent to be filmed at all.

"I want people to search me on Pornhub, not the other tube sites, because I have control of what people see on Pornhub."

She compares it to the Nordic model, which criminalises buying sexual content and decriminalises selling it.

"Everyone in the videos (featured on PH) have to give consent either by filling out forms or being a registered performer and accepting a request," she added.

"They remove content that doesn’t have consent forms or co-performers listed, and they also provide monetisation for models."
