A documentary accusing Russell Brand of rape is set to air tonight on Channel 4.

A joint investigation by The Sunday Times, The Times and Channel 4 Dispatches has led to comedian Russell Brand being accused of rape, sexual assaults and emotional abuse.

The Channel 4 Dispatches programme about the investigation is set to air tonight (Saturday, 16 September).

Brand posted a video to his YouTube channel last night (Friday, 15 September) revealing he'd 'received two extremely disturbing letter or a letter and an email' from a TV company and newspaper.

The Times says it gave the comedian eight days to respond to the allegations, but received no response.

Four women have come forward alleging Brand sexually assaulted them between the period of 2006 and 2013 - when Brand was working for Channel 4, the BBC and also starring in films.

"Others have made a range of accusations about Brand’s controlling, abusive and predatory behaviour," The Times reports.

One woman claims Brand raped her at his Los Angeles home and medical records revealed she visited a rape crisis centre the same day.

A second woman alleges she was just 16 years old when Brand assaulted her, accusing the comedian of referring to her as 'the child' during their three-month 'emotionally abusive and controlling' relationship.

A third woman has accused Brand of sexually assaulting her when they worked together and the fourth described emotional and physical abuse as well as sexual assault.

In his video post to YouTube, Brand said while he was 'very promiscuous' at the height of his career, his relationships were 'always consensual'.

Brand has denied allegations made against him in a video.
