Chaos as Sainsbury's customers discover coupon 'glitch' that allows them to 'get all their items for free'

Sainsbury's has since spoken out to address the 'glitch'

Some Sainsbury's customers discovered what appeared to be a coupon glitch going on with the supermarket that allowed them to get their shopping for free.

While you can sometimes get certain items free of charge or heavily discounted, you'll know that if all you had to do to get your shopping for nothing was scan a coupon then the supermarket must be going insane.

A few videos have been doing the rounds on social media recently showing customers taking advantage of Sainsbury's through this method.

In one of them a man is scanning the coupon for his shopping while being challenged by members of staff as he says 'it's allowed' and telling them if they don't want him to use the coupon they should 'disconnect it from the system'.

He then tells the staff 'I'm recording for my safety and your safety' before saying 'if you touch me I'm gonna knock you out' then asks: "If it's a frauded coupon how is it on the Sainsbury's app?"

In another video a woman looks over a long line of trolleys packed full of shopping as she says 'this is ridiculous'.

"This is why it stopped, look at this, they don't buy so much in real life but look, look.

"This is why they have to get catch, this is why 'cause they don't shop like this."

There were plenty of reactions to this, including people saying that they were alright with it due to rising costs.

Many others said they 'wish they knew this yesterday' when they might have been able to take advantage as it seems as though Sainsbury's has sorted things out by now.

Others were saying 'people don't know how to keep quiet ffs' and while sympathy for a supermarket seemed to be in short supply some slammed the behaviour as 'greedy'.

Someone else said they 'feel so bad for the workers' having to deal with this and another claimed they saw that someone 'got caught' trying to scan the price of their shopping down to nothing.

It also might not turn out so well for the people who took advantage of this moment to get some free shopping, as the supermarket said it was 'working closely with the police on this issue'.

A Sainsbury’s spokesperson told LADbible: “We have seen an increase in fraudulent coupons in our stores and we have processes in place to detect and block them.

"We also have in-store detectives monitoring for fraudulent attempts and we are working closely with the police on this issue.

"We continue to accept genuine coupons and vouchers."
