A young student has tragically died at university just hours after complaining of a stomach ache.
Joshua Adiefeh only recently started studying for a accounting and finance degree at Manchester Metropolitan University but lost his life in heartbreaking circumstances on 2 September.
He was discovered unresponsive at his flat by his two brothers Daniel and Joel, who were told by his friends that he had been struggling with an upset stomach in the hours before.
Joel, Joshua’s twin, said: "The night before, everything was perfectly fine.
"Then as time went by, he started to get sick and that’s when the symptoms started to show. At that point, he wasn’t taking it too seriously because it was all under control."
He suggested that ,as his brother's symptoms started to worsen, they phoned emergency services, but instead of initially sending an ambulance, they suggested he take paracetamol. By the time an ambulance did arrive, it was too late for paramedics to save him and he sadly passed away.
Joshua and his twin brother (GoFundMe) Joel added: "I met my brother outside the [accommodation] and we went up and found him the way he was. He was in a very bad shape, unable to move.
"He wasn’t responding to anyone. We tried to put him on his side, still no progress, the ambulance arrived, they tried everything.
"Me, my brother and some of his friends were waiting in the kitchen, and after they tried everything, they’d tried everything and there’s nothing else they could have done."
Joel spoke highly of his 'super-fit' brother, describing him as 'selfless' and someone who 'worked harder than everybody else', but the family are now left grieving the loss of a talented and kind young man, while also questioning how his tragic death came about.
Joshua's family has been left heartbroken by his tragic passing (GoFundMe) In a fundraiser set up to support the family in the wake of Joshua's tragic passing, his brothers wrote:
"It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of our beloved brother, whose kindness, warmth, work ethic to be the best possible person touched everyone who knew him.
"Joshua had always been one of the fittest and healthiest people we knew, but on this day his body gave way.
”Joel had gone to get paracetamol instructed by the ambulance during a sudden belly ache that Joshua had. Within a five minute span Daniel had also arrived with his close friends to the student accommodation that Joshua was staying in, meeting Joel outside of the shop he’d gone to buy the paracetamol.
"As we had rushed to go see our brother Joshua, unfortunately we found him in a devastating state where he was flat out unconscious on the floor.
"Suddenly the medics had came and within a two hour span they’d shared tragic news that our beloved brother had left us."
