A top adult star has issued a warning to young Brits ahead of new porn laws coming into place.
The UK is set for new rules on adult content in the coming weeks, with ‘robust’ age checks to be enforced. In case you weren’t quite keeping your finger on the pulse of porn regulations, the new changes mean that sites can’t just ‘verify’ a user’s age with a quick ‘check this box to say you’re over 18’ anymore.
Instead, ‘mandatory age-checks’ will need to be implemented by services.

This is part of the 2023 Online Safety Act, which was created to protect both children and adults. However, while some Brits are said to be trying to find ways around them, Ivy Maddox stresses the importance of the laws.

Ofcom has set a hard deadline of 25 July for age assurance technology to be put in place to safeguard those underage from seeing X-rated content online.
Services have to implement measures to cut out the risks, like this tighter age verification and content filtering.
And in order to raise awareness of the rules, the top UK adult star has created a 26-minute ‘suitable-for-work’ film reading every word of the act out in partnership with age check provider Verifymy.

With the project titled Coming Soon…, she wears a lace bodysuit while sitting on the edge of a hotel bed with a hard copy of the Act beside her.
“I was first exposed to porn at school when I didn’t want to see it, and I hate the thought of children seeing my content in the same way." Maddox said.
"The Online Safety Act can help prevent this from happening but it’s not exactly an easy read, so this film is my way of bringing it to life and raising awareness of rules that will have a big impact both on my industry and beyond.”

The star added that the new rules are ‘about moving with the times’ and protecting ‘vulnerable and underage’ users from ‘harmful’ content.

Plus, Maddox says it will ensure ‘over-18s can enjoy mature content safely’.
“Nobody I know wants to see Ofcom block sites and create a UK porn blackout,” she added.
With the short film described as her most ‘explicit’ yet, she told Metro: “It’s not my everyday content, but I’m always up for a challenge.”
Maddox went on to explain: “I also thought age verification was an important topic to raise awareness of, as I know that, for the adult and sex worker industry, privacy and compliance are key.”
