A chippy is sending shockwaves around the UK for charging an eye-watering price for their fish and chips.

If you fancied a cheap and cheerful chippy for tea by the sea, you'd definitely get a bit of a shock if you wandered into Enzo's in Crookston, Glasgow.

Gone are the days where a simple fish and chips cost a couple of quid and remained focused on classic battery, greasy, squidgy and fluffy goodness splattered with a dose of sharp vinegar and scattered with salt.

We've now entered the era of the boujiee fish and chip - damn you social media.

Enzo's has been described as having the 'UK's most expensive fish and chips supper', setting back customers a whopping £80 for their favourite greasy treat.

£80 for a chippy? You must be thinking that can't be right.

But, there's a catch. For this is no regular fish and chips.

The price is so elevated because everything on your plate, including both the fish and chips as well as the pickled onion, lemon and even a battered sausage, is sprinkled with a secret - and very fancy - ingredient.

The dish has 24 karat gold sprinkled all over it.

The meal costs a total of £79.99 because of the 24 karat edible gold which litters the surface of each bite.

The shop announced the new product via Instagram, with the post reading: "UK’s Most Expensive Golden Fish & Chips Supper covered with 24K Edible Gold.

"Love Exotic Food? You’ve to try this!! #diningGlasgow."

The order contains two 'golden jumbo fish,' one 'golden sausage,' 'golden chips,' 'golden pickled onions' and 'golden lemons'.

The post states it is available to preorder.

Enzo's concludes: "Who can say no to a luxurious meal?! Not me!! I’ve got a weakness for Crispy Chips and not to mention that Soft and Tender Fish!"

However, not all followers were left convinced.

While over 300 people liked the post, one user questioned whether gold really belongs on fish and chips.

The gold is even on the pickled onions.

Another queried the costly price of the meal. "Isn’t edible gold like cheap??" they said.

If you don't have a spare £80 lying around, then the chippy's even given people a chance to win the meal.

"This #fathersday get a chance to win a 24 Karat Gold Fish & Chips Supper for your Father," its latest post reads.

The competition is in association with Enzo's Crookston and Enzo's Paisley.

The fish and chip meal may look good, but is it as good as Binley Mega Chippy?

Let the battle of the chippy's commence, TikTok, do your thing.
