Mum Speaks Out On ‘Miracle’ After Son Survives Fall From Balcony At Harry Styles Concert

Mum Speaks Out On ‘Miracle’ After Son Survives Fall From Balcony At Harry Styles Concert

The mother of the fan who fell from the top tier box during Harry Styles’ gig on Saturday (11 June) has spoken out

The mum of the fan who fell from the top tier box at Glasgow’s Ibrox Stadium during Harry Styles’ gig on Saturday (11 June) has spoken out.

Dylan Wood, 20, is thought to have toppled forward when he tried to lean on a barrier that was lower than he expected, and his mum Marion Hawkins, 39, has revealed the incident landed him on life support.

Marion has opened up about the horrifying moment she was woken by a phone call from ambulance staff and shared an update on Dylan’s condition.

Dylan was hospitalised but is now safely home.

Speaking to The Sun, she said she’s still in shock over the whole ordeal and added that electrical engineer Dylan was desperate to leave hospital and come home.

“He’s in high dependency because of his head and they have to keep an eye on him," she explained, adding: “The plan would be for him to go into another ward to be supervised because he has a concussion.”

Marion also told the paper that thankfully her son has walked away with nothing more than ‘a few bumps and cuts’, although did share that he currently has two black eyes.

The doting mum said: “He has a concussion and no breaks. He has two black eyes which I think is because maybe his face has been banged, his nose was bleeding and that’s it.

“He has a sore shoulder but nothing is broken. Doctors can’t believe it.”

In an update on Facebook, Marion confirmed her son has now been discharged and is safely home.

She wrote: "That's my boy home. He's one sore boy but doing good."

When Dylan first arrived at hospital, he was placed on ‘the ventilator on the life support machine’, according to his mum, who explained the move meant hospital staff could better observe his condition.

Dylan, who is ‘just really tired and upset about everything that happened’, was taken off life support the next day and remains under supervision.

Marion said she’s been inundated with kind messages in the wake of her son’s accident and called the fact that her son was able to walk away relatively unscathed a ‘miracle’.

Around 50,000 people were at Styles’ show and Dylan tumbled over the barrier as the hit-maker performed his song 'Kiwi'.

Horrified fans who witnessed the accident took to Twitter at the time to express their concern, with one writing: “Still in shock after @Harry_Styles concert @ibrox. A guy fell from the tier above onto the main stand one row in front of us.

"I had to run to main door at street level to bring help. Everyone in shock around us and so upset. Hope guy is OK."

Another added: "We were a few rows back and I was looking straight that way when the person fell.

"Hopefully shielded my niece from the worst. I'm still in a bit of shock tbh. Hope the person is OK."
