Rapper D4vd is the target of an investigation into the death of teenager Celeste Rivas Hernandez, according to new court documents.

The body of 14-year-old Rivas Hernandez was discovered inside the boot of a Tesla registered to the 'Romantic Homicide' singer, real name David Anthony Burke, last September, just one day after what would've been her 15th birthday.

Rivas Hernandez had been reported missing by her family back in April 2024. It's currently not clear how or when the teenager died due to the advanced state of decomposition of the remains.

Now a new update in the case has revealed that D4vd is the target of a grand jury investigation into Rivas Hernandez's death.

According to unsealed and released court records obtained by Rolling Stone, the 20-year-old singer's family had been called to testify in a California court; however when Burke's father decided to appeal the request in a Texas court several documents from the California case were released to the public.

The documents suggested that D4vd could be subject to proceedings of one count of murder.

Burke, who is understood to be cooperating with police, has not been charged in relation to Rivas Hernandez's death or officially named as a suspect in the case.

He was also on tour when the body was recovered from the front boot of his Tesla, which had been impounded at a tow yard in Hollywood.

The 151-page document also revealed further details about the conditions in which Rivas Hernandez's body was found by authorities.

When law enforcement opened the front boot of the impounded vehicle they discovered 'a black cadaver bag covered with insects and a strong odor of decay'.

The document goes on to state that Rivas Hernandez's arms and legs had been separated from the rest of her body and stored in a second bag.

The new details come after misinformation about Rivas Hernandez's body circulated online, which included claims the teenager's body had been 'frozen and decapitated'.

The rumours led to LAPD Captain Scot M. Williams issuing a statement in order to set the record straight, issuing the following statement to PEOPLE: "Celeste's body was not frozen; she was not decapitated. The whole frozen thing doesn't even make sense. Her body was in the car for weeks.

"Even if she had been frozen solid when she was put in the car (which there is NO evidence to suggest she was), five or more weeks in the trunk of a car in sweltering heat in the middle of summer would not have resulted in a partially frozen body being discovered on September 8th."

LADbible has contacted D4vd’s attorney and the Los Angeles District Attorney's Office for a comment.
