The 'heartbroken' family of a teen girl found dead in the boot of a Tesla belonging to a US musician has spoken out.

The body of Celeste Rivas Hernandez, 15, was tragically discovered by police last week after she was reported missing back in April 2024.

Cops were called to an impound lot in Los Angeles on Monday (8 September) following reports of a 'foul smell' coming from a Tesla.

Officers then made the grisly discovery inside the car, before it was reported that the vehicle was registered to the New York-born singer d4vd.

The 20-year-old, who is famed for hits such as 'Here With Me', 'Sleep Well' and 'Romantic Homicide', was in the middle of a tour at the time.

A representative for d4vd - real name David Anthony Burke - previously said he was aware of the situation and had been 'fully cooperating with the authorities'. He has not been charged with any crime.

Leaked songs by the singer have been uploaded to SoundCloud in recent days, including one which is reportedly called 'Celeste'.

The teenager's loved ones have now spoken out for the first time in the wake of her body being found.

In a GoFundMe post, her relatives paid tribute to the young woman while calling on people to donate anything they can to 'help lay her to rest'.

"As many of you know, Celeste Rivas Hernandez has been identified as the body found last week," it said.

"She was a beloved daughter, sister, cousin, and friend. Her family is heartbroken and devastated by this tragic loss.

"They are seeking help to lay her body to rest. Any funds you are able to donate are greatly appreciated."

So far, over $11,000 has been raised.

The GoFundMe also states that the funeral service for Celeste will take place on 5 October.

An appeal shared last year after she vanished explained that she was last seen in Lake Elsinore in California.

The teen was last seen wearing grey pants, a black sweater, a hat and Hello Kitty sandals. Celeste was described as being 5ft 3in, 120 pounds and having brown eyes and dark brown hair.

Her cause of death and the circumstances surrounding it remain unclear, however, officials suspect she may have been deceased for a long period of time.

Authorities discovered her wearing a tube top with black leggings, a yellow bracelet, and metal stud earrings.

She also had a tattoo on her right index finger that read 'Shhh...' while her body was also reportedly wrapped in plastic and locked in the trunk of the Tesla.

LADbible previously contacted a representative for d4vd for comment.
