Sean 'Diddy' Combs has reportedly been placed into solitary confinement in prison following an incident involving another inmate.

The disgraced musician is currently serving out a prison sentence after he was convicted of two counts of transportation to engage in prostitution last year.

Combs was sentenced to 50 months in prison over the crimes, and was also cleared of sex trafficking and racketeering charges in the trial.

Now, NBC News has reported that Combs has been placed into solitary confinement at FCI Fort Dix in New Jersey, where he is being held.

TMZ spoke to an insider who said that Combs had gotten into a dispute with another prisoner at the facility, and has since been placed into solitary confinement.

When the outlet contacted Fort Dix directly, a spokesperson said: "We are not at liberty to disclose or provide internal information pertaining to any inmate in our custody. Such information would not be available for the public domain."

The US Federal Bureau of Prisons has also declined to comment on the matter, saying that it does not speak publicly about disciplinary matters, or other information regarding individual inmates due to privacy, safety, and security concerns.'

It comes after Combs' release date had been brought forward from the initial date of 15 April 2028.

Records of the Federal Bureau of Prisons obtained by E! News previously showed that Combs will now be released approximately two months earlier on 23 February 2028.

Combs' release date in 2028 has changed on more than one occasion, previously being listed as 8 May, 4 June, 25 April, and 15 April.

While the Federal Bureau of Prisons does not comment on individual cases, it has previously explained that a number of factors might influence the precise release date of a given prisoner.

This includes ‘good conduct time, time credits from approved programs and activities and credit for time served before sentencing’.

Combs is continuing to appeal against his convictions, with lawyers representing him filing appeals against both the conviction and his sentence in December 2025.

In the appeals, Combs' lawyers are claiming that the sexual encounters which formed the basis of the high-profile court case were consensual, and are also pushing for Combs' 'immediate release' due to the sentence being excessive.

However, federal prosecutors have responded by calling for the claims, which are currently awaiting a ruling from the US Court of Appeal, to be rejected, claiming that Combs is a ‘repeat offender’.

Combs' lawyers also requested that he serve out his sentence at FCI Fort Dix in New Jersey due to the proximity to Combs' family, and access to treatment programs in custody.

Teny Geragos, Combs' attorney, said in a filing in October 2025: "In order to address drug abuse issues and to maximize family visitation and rehabilitative efforts, we request that the court strongly recommend to the Bureau of Prisons that Mr. Combs be placed at FCI Fort Dix."

Combs' sentencing came after a high profile court case, which was itself preceded by federal law enforcement raiding his properties.
