Donald Trump has suggested that he isn't willing to talk to Iran until one condition is met.

The President is pledging to 'make Iran great again' as Tehran sees strikes 'every few hours', residents have told the BBC.

Following the death of Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei in the first set of missile strikes last weekend, Trump says he wants to the successor to be acceptable to his administration.

"There will be no deal with Iran except UNCONDITIONAL SURRENDER!" he penned on Truth Social.

"After that, and the selection of a GREAT & ACCEPTABLE Leader(s), we, and many of our wonderful and very brave allies and partners, will work tirelessly to bring Iran back from the brink of destruction, making it economically bigger, better, and stronger than ever before.

"IRAN WILL HAVE A GREAT FUTURE.

"MAKE IRAN GREAT AGAIN (MIGA!).

"Thank you for your attention to this matter! President DONALD J. TRUMP."

Israeli warplanes targeted Beirut and Tehran on Friday as Iran launched another wave of retaliatory strikes against Israel and Gulf countries on the seventh day of the war.

The war has, so far, killed at least 1,230 people in Iran, over 120 in Lebanon and around a dozen in Israel, according to officials in those countries.

The Israel Defense Forces says it has identified missiles launched from Iran heading towards Israel.

"Defensive systems are operating to intercept the threat," the IDF said in a statement.

"The public is instructed to enter a protected space and remain there until further notice.

"Leaving a protected space is permitted only after receiving explicit instructions."

Trump meanwhile, who promised 'no more wars' during his second campaign, has faced backlash after the airstrikes on Iran last week.

He said the strikes were necessary to eliminate 'imminent threats' and prevent Iran from obtaining a nuclear weapon, and that Iran had restarted its nuclear program to develop long-range missiles capable of reaching the US.

Of the Supreme Leader's death, Trump said on Truth: "Khamenei, one of the most evil people in History, is dead. This is not only Justice for the people of Iran, but for all Great Americans, and those people from many countries throughout the World, that have been killed or mutilated by Khamenei and his gang of bloodthirsty THUGS."

"He was unable to avoid our Intelligence and Highly Sophisticated Tracking Systems and, working closely with Israel, there was not a thing he, or the other leaders that have been killed along with him, could do," he continued.
