Donald Trump has been slammed for posting a racist video of Barack and Michelle Obama as monkeys on Truth Social.

The US president shared a one-minute election conspiracy video on his social media platform that repeated false allegations that Dominion Voting Systems helped steal the 2020 presidential election.

Towards the end of the clip, it depicts the Obamas with their faces on AI-generated monkeys for a couple of seconds while The Tokens' 'The Lion Sleeps Tonight' plays in the background.

At the time of writing, the footage has 1,700 likes on Truth Social and has received backlash on X.

Commenting on the post, one person wrote: "So, just to confirm the 'president' is posting election fraud propaganda followed by racist memes of a former US President and First Lady.

"And the Republicans in Congress will do nothing, because they believe this is acceptable behavior for a US president. Got it."

"This is beyond politics, it’s straight-up racism," a second added.

"Posting imagery that dehumanises Donald Trump’s opponents isn’t 'provocative', it’s vile, dangerous, and corrosive.

"Targeting Barack Obama and Michelle Obama this way drags public discourse to the gutter and normalises hate.

"There really is no bottom when cruelty is treated like a campaign strategy."

"There’s absolutely no way that any black Trump supporters can defend this. How do you defend a white man posting images of black people as, monkeys," a third said.

The White House has since addressed the video, with Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt telling LADbible Group: "This is from an internet meme video depicting President Trump as the King of the Jungle and Democrats as characters from the Lion King. Please stop the fake outrage and report on something today that actually matters to the American public."

It comes after Trump posted an AI-generated video of the former president being arrested in the Oval Office back in July.

The first part of the video shows Obama on his knees while being handcuffed by the FBI.

"No one is above the law," was the caption to the clip.

It also features several Democratic politicians, such as former president Joe Biden and Nancy Pelosi, repeating the phrase 'no one is above the law'.

The digitally altered video also shows Trump and Obama in the Oval Office while the Village People's 'YMCA' plays.

Obama is handcuffed by FBI agents and is put away in prison in an orange jumpsuit.

Trump ally, Tulsi Gabbard, accused Obama of a 'treasonous conspiracy' to undermine his 2016 presidential campaign.

In a statement, Obama said the claims were 'bizarre' and 'are ridiculous and a weak attempt at distraction'.

After the democrat received death threats over the allegations, a White House spokesperson said that the Trump administration 'strongly condemn all forms of violence'.
