Donald Trump jokingly referred to the Strait of Hormuz as the 'Strait of Trump' during his 'peacemaker' speech in Miami.
The president wants to take control of the vital shipping route after accusing Iran of blackmailing the US.
At the Future Investment Initiative Institute in Miami, Trump said Iran is now 'begging to make a deal' after obliterating their facilities.
"We're negotiating now, and it’d be great if we could do something, but they have to open it up," he said on Friday (27 March).

He sarcastically added: "They have to open up the Strait of Trump — I mean, Hormuz.
"Excuse me, I'm so sorry, such a terrible mistake.
"The fake news will say he accidentally said — there's no accidents with me, not too many. If there were, we'd have a major story."
Trump also complained about not winning the Nobel Peace Prize last year.
“If I don't get the Nobel Prize for peace, nobody will ever get it. I didn't get it. I'm not surprised. The person that got it was shocked — she’s a wonderful woman too, by the way,” he said.
As reported by the New York Post, a senior administration official said that the administration plans on 'taking the Strait back. It’s guaranteed, and they will never blackmail us on that strait'.
On Trump's plan to stop Iran claiming authority on the Strait, they added: "He does believe that if we’re going to guard it, if we’re going to take care of it, if we’re going to police it, if we’re going to ensure free safety through it that, why should we call it that [Hormuz]?

"Why don’t we call it, you know, the Strait of America?"
It is said to be named after the medieval Kingdom of Hormuz, whose own name comes from the Persian word Hur-Mogh, meaning 'Place of Dates'.
Nearly one-fifth of the world’s oil shipments pass through the narrow waterway, making it a critical chokepoint for global trade and energy security.

While Trump wants to control the Strait, critics have accused him of escalating tensions in the Middle East, and that we could be looking at the start of WWIII.
At least 1,937 people have been killed during the US-Israeli backed war, with almost 25,000 injured, Iran's Deputy Health Minister Ali Jafarian told Al Jazeera.
Trump, however, insists that the conflict with Iran is to stop threats from the Iranian government and prevent Iran from developing nuclear weapons.
“If Iran does anything that stops the flow of oil within the Strait of Hormuz, they will be hit by the United States of America TWENTY TIMES HARDER than they have been hit thus far,” he previously wrote on Truth.
