Inside ‘doomsday’ bunker where the ultra-rich could escape from nuclear attacks if WW3 broke out

US company Strategically Armored & Fortified Environments (SAFE) plans to unveil its Aerie bunker next year

If it all goes to hell in a handbasket and World War Three breaks out then it could be the end of the world as we know it.

That's because the invention of nuclear bombs that ended the previous World War could just wipe us all out should we end up in a WW3 scenario.

Of course there are some people who prepare for the end of the world, just in case it happens.

You've got some who think that living out in the sticks will mean they can ride out the global catastrophe, and a bunch of obscenely rich people who saw Fallout and thought the vaults were a great idea that could be improved if fewer people were allowed in.

While there are bunkers set up for governments and some shelters from nuclear weapons, there are some rich people who think their own underground palace is the way to go.

According to Forbes, US company Strategically Armored & Fortified Environments (SAFE for short) plans next year to unveil something it calls 'Aerie', a doomsday bunker complex which plans to build locations in 50 US cities and around 1,000 places around the world.

Its first one is expected to be built in the US state of Virginia and cost around $300 million (£227 million) to construct, and once built this is where the super-duper rich could scarper if they screw the world up to the point of destruction.

Forbes says that buying your spot in one of these places could cost up to $20 million (£15 million), and for that you get a luxury spot underground while everyone else who doesn't have that kind of money gets horrifically incinerated or is forced to try and scratch out a living in the post-nuclear hellscape that would follow WW3.

Those dwelling underground can enjoy 'AI-powered medical suites', therapy rooms and an ice plunge room, all specially lit to make the place seem as though it's above ground.

For many of the mega-rich reading this and fearing that your army of indentured servants (after all, someone still has to scrub the toilets and it's not going to be Mr Monopoly) might try and take over the place on the basis of 'we are many, ye are few', these places apparently have special security measures to make sure the owner stays in charge.

SAFE bosses said they've had 'thousands' of requests from the rich to sign up, but at the moment they're only booking spaces for 625 people.

Realtor reported that SAFE bosses said the idea came from one of their clients who spent $103 million on his home security and then got caught up in a concert massacre.

This rich guy had spent a fortune on making his home safe only to be endangered far away from it, stuck in the same horrific boat as as all the other people who didn't have 'doomsday-proof my home' type money.
