Identical twins can often be very helpful when it comes to scientific experiments but they can also seemingly lead to some family drama.
When it comes to looking exactly the same as someone else, it seems as if people can often have confusing thoughts and feelings.
There's the somewhat strange story of identical twins marrying identical twins to produce 'quarternary twins', while even when the twins are separated at birth, it seems as if there might be a driving force that links them together.
Unfortunately, when you're attracted to one identical twin, you're also likely to be attracted to the other one from a physical point of view at least, and that can sometimes cause some issues.

That's exactly what happened when a woman had sex with two identical brothers in a four-day window, which led to her conceiving her daughter back in 2017.
DNA isn't particularly helpful in a situation such as this, and now both brothers are claiming to be the father in a legal case which has caused a rift in their once close friendship.

A Court of Appeal case heard that there is a 50/50 chance either is the father, with one of the twins, who was initially named on the birth certificate, remaining in a relationship with the woman until 2024 when the issue was brought to family court when both claimed the girl as their own.
The other twin's lawyers have sought to remove his brother's name from the birth certificate but the appeal court ruled that it should stay as it is impossible to know at this stage who the biological father is.
In a judgment handed down earlier this month, Sir Andrew McFarlane, sitting with Lady Justice King and Lord Justice Stuart-Smith, said: "It is possible, indeed likely, that by the time P reaches maturity it may be possible for science to identify one father and exclude the other twin, but, for the coming time that cannot be done without very significant cost, and so her ‘truth’ is binary and not a single man."

As per The Guardian, he added: "The failure to prove a fact means that that fact is not proved, it does not mean that the contrary is proved.
"There is a distinction between something being not proven, and making a positive declaration that the fact asserted is not true.
"They have both claimed her; and they are both pursuing this claim at considerable financial and personal cost, including a cost to their own relationship which, before this issue arose, was close."
Sadly, it seems as if the issues are proving to be too much for the brother's relationship, and there may be no end in sight until the girl reaches maturity, when it might become possible to identify which twin is actually the father.
