Man cut in half by forklift makes heartbreaking admission about his life since devastating accident

Man cut in half by forklift makes heartbreaking admission about his life since devastating accident

Loren Schauers had to have his lower body below the waist amputated after a forklift landed on him in 2019

In 2019, Loren Schauers was going about his job as normal when the forklift he was operating fell off a bridge and landed on top of him.

The Montana, US native's injuries were catastrophic and Loren underwent a hemicorporectomy - the amputation of everything below the waist - to save his life.

He also lost half of his right arm in the horrific accident.

But, most horrifying of all, Loren revealed he had been 'conscious' throughout the whole thing, including the moment the forklift fell on him.

Now, Loren documents his life with his wife Sabia Reiche on social media, sharing details of everything from how he showers to how he goes to the bathroom with no lower half of the body.

Earlier this year, he shared a heartbreaking admission about his life since the devastating accident on Facebook.

In a post, he wrote: "Am I the only one who finds it difficult to make friends? I’m never really busy doing anything, just don’t know who to hit up and let into my life.

"Also, been betrayed by so many 'friends' in so many ways that I might have trust issues letting people into my life, not stealing from me, taking advantage of whatever they can, stuff like that.

"I know it’s dumb to make it out into a Facebook post but hey! If anyone is looking for a friend! I’m always free and need to make some friends.

"Haven’t hung out with anyone that isn’t family in over a year it feels like lol. HMU!"

Loren has previously opened up about being 'disappointed' with some of his friends in a YouTube Live, saying they'd 'totally reverted and have been reclusive' since his accident.

His wife Sabia also said she was 'surprised' by their behaviour.

"But it's whatever to me, you know," Loren said. "I got Sabia that's all I need.

"Going through this together has definitely strengthened a lot of the aspects of our relationship."

And Sabia explained: "It has made us a lot more appreciative of the little things that we used to take for granted as a couple before."

On a more positive note, however, he did say 'a couple of friends came out of the woodwork and have been really supportive.'

And, in his search for new friends, the internet has done something good, with a plethora of people getting in touch to say they'd like to be friends with Loren.
