Bodycam footage shows the moment that the parents of Mackenzie Shirilla confronted police at the station following her arrest.
In the footage, her father Steve Shirilla is present at the police station demanding that officers stop questioning his daughter, while the police reply that as she is 18 years old this is a decision that she can legally make for herself.
Shirilla was arrested following an investigation into a crash in 2022 where she drove her Toyota Camry into a brick building at 100mph, killing her boyfriend, Dominic Russo, and his friend, Davion Flanagan.
She is currently serving a sentence of 15 years to life in prison for the murders, and her case is the subject of a Netflix documentary called The Crash.

Addressing the officer in what appears to be the reception of the police station, her father says in the footage, published by the New York Post: "I need to speak to my daughter. You guys are not allowed to speak to her at all. That's from the lawyer, he does not want you guys speaking to her, and I can get him on the phone, he can tell you that over the phone."

He went to say that the lawyer could 'tell you that over the phone' or he could 'go in there and tell her not to open her mouth', and calling the situation 'unbelievable.'
The dad went on to question why the police hadn't called the family and informed them that there was a warrant out for Shirilla, saying that the family would have brought her down.
"You could have made a phone call couldn't you, you had your creeper out in front of my yard watching," he said.
He then asks why his daughter has not been able to make a phone call since being brought in to the police station, to which an officer replies that she was 'just brought in' and would be able to make a phone call when she is processed.

The conversations escalate as the parents say that she has a lawyer, and the cop says 'she's 18 years old she can speak to that'.
In a surprising reply, her father then says: "She's a dumb 18-year-old that just turned 18 and you guys are dumb.
He continued: "All the kids nowadays are dumb, and these guys are going to take advantage of it," he said, before reiterating: "She's not allowed to speak to you guys."
The officer responds that Shirilla's attorney could call the office, and walks into the back of the police station as the dad can be heard shouting after him: "Don't ask her any questions, she's not allowed to speak to you."
