Mackenzie Shirilla’s dad Steve branded his daughter ‘a dumb 18-year-old’ in newly released bodycam footage.
Shirila, who has been dubbed the ‘Hell on wheels’ killer by the media, is currently serving two concurrent sentences of 15 years to life, for the 2022 murders of her boyfriend Dominic Russo and friend Davion Flanagan after crashing her Toyota Camry into a brick wall at speeds of 100mph.
The case was recently revisited in the hit Netflix documentary The Crash, which features interviews with Shirilla, the victims families, and her family, including dad Steve.

In the documentary series, viewers saw the moment Shirilla was arrested on 4 November 2022.
Now, newly released bodycam footage shared by People, shows the moment Steve arrived at the police station after discovering his daughter had been arrested.
In the footage, Steven is calmly told by a police officer that as Shirilla is 18-years-old she can speak for herself in interviews, which didn’t go down well with the dad.
“Yeah, but she’s a dumb 18-year-old,” he shot back.
“She just turned 18.”
Wife Natalie then tells Steven to 'stop calling her dumb', to which he replies that 'all the kids today are dumb’, before attempting to tell the cop that Shirilla ‘is not allowed to speak to you’.

"I need to speak to my daughter because you guys aren't allowed to speak to her at all.
“That's from the lawyer, he does not want you speaking to her at all."
He also hit back at the decision for cops to publicly arrest Shirilla rather than calling the family and asking them to bring her in.
"It's unbelievable, I mean she's 18," Steven tells the officer.
He then says that he wants to speak to her daughter so ‘she understands not to say anything to you guys’, but is informed that he won’t be able to talk to her and that because she’s an adult she’ll need to invoke Fifth Amendment privilege against self-incrimination herself.

The clip ends with Steven eventually leaving the police station, but as he does so he continues to protest: "She's not allowed to speak to you guys, I'm telling you that."
Steven and wife Natalie have been very vocal when it comes to supporting their daughter.
The dad recently shared his thoughts on the Netflix series.
“I thought she did well on it,” he told the True Crime This Week podcast.
“She was beautiful and I think she was very composed. You can see that she's got a couple years maturity to her.”
He also revealed that his daughter wasn’t happy about Netflix leaving in a segment of the interview where she conferred with her lawyer.
“Her lawyer was there with her when she did this and she turned to him and wanted to make sure she said what she wanted to say and that she didn't sound like she's just talking gibberish.
“She he turned to him and they (Netflix) ran with that and let it go and it just makes her seem like it was planned, or a performance, it wasn’t.”
