New documents reveal secret campaign to expand ICE across US in number of locations

It would place facilities in nearly every state

New documents have revealed a seemingly secret campaign to expand ICE facilities across almost the entirety of the US.

The Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency has already doubled in size since Donald Trump returned to the Oval Office, with the president also handing over more than $80 billion in funding.

Despite recent controversies, which include the deaths of US citizens Renée Good and Alex Pretti at ICE protests, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) aren't backing down when it comes to the deportation of what they and the US government has long described as 'illegal aliens'.

As thousands of people in the US are deported or even sent to one of the 'world's worst prisons', ICE is continuing its crackdown, and now documents released by the General Services Administration (GSA) have revealed the future plans for the federal agency.

The federal records, which were obtained by Wired, have shown that the DHS plans to expand ICE’s physical presence across the US, with over 150 leases and office expansions mentioned in the documents.

This would see new facilities placed in nearly every state, either in or just outside the largest metropolitan areas across the various states.

The facilities, which are primarily used by ICE agents and attorneys, are seemingly set to be built close to schools, medical offices and places of worship, with the enforcement agency already showing that it is more than happy to detain children as young as five, as we saw in Minnesota last month.

Although Wired claim that the DHS asked the GSA to disregard usual government lease procurement procedures and even hide lease listings due to 'national security concerns', the GSA has since made it clear that it will follow all laws and regulations.

Marianne Copenhaver, GSA associate administrator for communications, said: “GSA is committed to working with all of our partner agencies, including our patriotic law enforcement partners such as ICE, to meet their workspace needs. GSA remains focused on supporting this administration’s goal of optimising the federal footprint, and providing the best workplaces for our federal agencies to meet their mission.

"GSA is following all lease procurement procedures in accordance with all applicable laws and regulations.”

Workers at the Public Buildings Service (PBS), a branch within the GSA, have also been tasked with finding leasing spaces for ICE’s Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO) and Office of the Principal Legal Advisor (OPLA) across the country.

ERO is tasked with immigration enforcement, including the arrest, detention, and removal of immigrants, while the OPLA is on the legal side of things, with the ICE website stating that OPLA lawyers work to litigate 'all removal cases including those against criminal aliens, terrorists, and human rights abusers'.

Work on this secret campaign is seemingly well under way, with the documents suggesting that progress was made as early as September 2025.

Wired suggest that after the recent work in Minneapolis, a source within the Trump administration has claimed that California and New York will be 'next'.

LADbible has contacted the Department of Homeland Security and the Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency for comment.
