The US government is gearing up to release all the files it has obtained on related to aliens and extraterrestrial life, and an expert has now shared his thoughts on what we might find out.
Last month, President Donald Trump announced that he would make documents which include discussion of UFOs public.
According to Christopher Mellon, who is a former US Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defence for Intelligence, disclosing these files will take the debate surrounding aliens 'to another level'.
In wake of his predecessor Barack Obama claiming that they are 'real', Trump himself admitted that he is still on the fence about the existence of other life forms.

When asked where he stands on the subject, he responded: "Well, I don't know if they're real or not."
To allow the American people to weigh in on this debate, the commander-in-chief, 79, revealed that he would be 'identifying and releasing' all the files which cover the possibility of alien life and phenomena such as UFOs.

In a post on Truth Social shared in February, Trump said: "Based on the tremendous interest shown, I will be directing the Secretary of War, and other relevant Departments and Agencies, to begin the process of identifying and releasing Government files related to alien and extraterrestrial life, unidentified aerial phenomena (UAP), and unidentified flying objects (UFOs), and any and all other information connected to these highly complex, but extremely interesting and important, matters. GOD BLESS AMERICA!"
In a post on X on 23 February, the Office of the Director of National Intelligence said that these documents will 'soon' be declassified...but we still haven't seen anything yet.
According to Mellon, it will likely be a 'fairly long, and probably a bit of a slow process' due to all the paperwork involved.
"Typically, files would have to go to a trained security officer who understands the laws and understands the equities involved, and then they have to review it," he told CNN last week.
"There’s a specific process they follow - to review it line by line. It would generally be done by the service or agency that produced the information, because they’re the ones who understand why they classified it to begin with, and what issues would be associated with declassifying it."

Now, Mellon has revealed what he thinks the files might contain and alleged that there are images in the possession of the US government of unidentified aerial phenomena that are incomparable to anything humans have ever built.
The 68-year-old is a former deputy assistant secretary of defence for intelligence, who worked under former presidents Bill Clinton and George Bush.
Speaking to the New York Post about the alien files, Mellon said: "We have satellite imagery of craft that sure don’t look like anything that we have built or constructed.
"There’s a significant number of videos from the same sources that were judged unclassified in 2018 - gun cameras on F18s, [Forward Looking Infrared Radar] videos - that have been withheld from the public.
"I know there are because I’ve seen some of them. And there’s no rational reason that I can think of why those videos are being withheld."
Despite this, Mellon doesn't believe that the documents will verify the suggestion that there are aliens out there.
Sharing his forecast for the coming weeks, Mellon added: "I have a feeling bureaucracy is going to react slowly and I don’t think they’re gonna put the best stuff out quickly, if they do at all.
"Congressional vigilance is needed to ensure a thorough and effective process."
