President Donald Trump is pulling out all the stops to make sure America's 250th birthday is a party to remember - but some people aren't very impressed with one of his ideas.
The White House has promised that a 'full year of festivities' will follow on from Independence Day in 2026, including a UFC event which is set to take place on the commander-in-chief's front lawn.
Trump said there would be something for everyone to enjoy last month when he announced that the government would be throwing 'a grand celebration worthy of the momentous occasion'.
A task force has even been set up to take charge of the party planning, who are no doubt up to their eyeballs while ensuring that each celebration is to Trump's taste.

Although you might think the 250th anniversary of American Independence would bring the country together, it appears that it has actually left a lot of people in the US divided.

Trump's decision to host a UFC fight at the White House has seriously split opinion - as some have slammed it as a 'disgrace', while others reckon it's going to be 'epic'.
Yesterday (12 August), the UFC's president and CEO Dana White announced the event is 'definitely going to happen' on 4 July 2026.
"I talked to [Trump] last night and I'm flying out there at the end of this month," he told CBS, while revealing that the President's eldest daughter Ivanka is also heavily involved in the prep.

"I'm going to sit down and walk him through all of the plans and the renderings, and we're going to start deciding what he wants and what he doesn't want.
"But yeah, it's definitely going to happen...July 4th, 250th birthday of the United States of America, live on CBS from the White House."
Trump, White, and UFC fans might be buzzing for the brawl on the lawns of the White House, but not everyone is...and some even suggested it was reminiscent of fights to the death between gladiators in ancient Rome.

Taking to social media to share their thoughts, one person sarcastically said: "Welcome to modern day Rome. A new colosseum in the shape of an octagon."

Another wrote: "You are turning the White House into a circus."
A third added: "What classless person would disgrace the White House like this?"
A fourth commented: "The thug in the White House brings new meaning to the term white trash."
While a fifth fumed: "This sums up Trump so perfectly. 250 years of the country to celebrate, so he signs a contract to put on a tacky, gaudy spectacle for HIS ego (and no doubt earns a big cut himself). Shameless."
On the other hand, others said they were excitedly counting down the days to the UFC event at the White House, with one suggesting it would be an 'amazing spectacle' to observe.

A second said: "This is so awesome," while a third chimed in saying: "UFC at the White House is going to be one for the history books!"

"This historic event will combine sports, patriotism, and fireworks like never before," a fourth added.
People reckon Trump will pull some strings to get some star fighters involved and a host of high-profile guests, although it's anyones guess as to where White House staff are going to cram an octagon-shaped cage.
Sharing his thoughts on how the White House will host a UFC event which is typically held in a huge stadium, White told The Wall Street Journal: "My octagon is like 25,000 pounds.

"I don’t give a s*** if there’s only one seat at this thing. This is so monumental and historical and just such a cool thing.
"All I care about is the octagon on the lawn and the fight happening with the backdrop being the White House and the Washington Monument.”
Trump previously described his idea for the UFC event as a 'championship fight, full fight' which up to 25,000 spectators will attend.
