A former public official has claimed that the US government has secretly built a $21 trillion underground city for the worst-case scenario.
With the tariff battle between America and China, the Ukraine-Russia war, as well as the Israeli–Palestinian conflict, a third world war isn't beyond the realms of possibility.
From a US point of view, however, Catherine Austin Fitts says they've been planning for the event of disaster for a long time.
The 74-year-old was once the United States Assistant Secretary of Housing and Urban Development during the Presidency of George H.W. Bush from 1989 to 1990.
She made the shock claim on Tucker Carlson’s podcast that America has $21 trillion in 'unauthorised spending' between 1998 to 2017, citing a 2017 report by Michigan State University economist Mark Skidmore.

"Typically, such adjustments in public budgets are only a small fraction of authorised spending."
After years investigating where the money went, Fitts has estimated that 170 secret underground bases have been built across the US.

“We have built an extraordinary number of underground bases and, supposedly, transportation systems.”
Whilst Fitts claimed that there are bases located below oceans, she doesn't know exactly where they are.

"For example, if you're doing a secret space program, you need to platform it from things that can't be seen," she added.
"But I think if you're worried about a near extinction event, you know."
"I don't know if you ever saw, Washington Post did a project, it was in 2010 or 12, called 'Top Secret America,'" Fitts continued.
"And one of the reporters, it was a team of two reporters, one of them put together a database of all the different top secret installations that had been built in the country, including since the Patriot Act.
"And what you saw was just this explosion of money in building so many both underground and above ground facilities."
