A man accidentally added 14 girls to a group chat while trying to get a Bumble date.

The unlucky individual, known only as 'British Will', messaged what he thought was just one woman he'd met in New York, asking her if she'd like to reconnect after the pandemic prevented them from meeting up.

However, it soon became clear to the Casanova that he had, in fact, sent the exact same message to more than a dozen of his previous matches. Yikes.

His opener read: "Hey stranger! We matched on Bumble last year but didn't meet due to COVID.

"I just arrived back in the city and was wondering if you're still single!? (British Will!)."

This was swiftly followed up by: ""Ew did you just text 14 girls at once. Goodbye sir."

And Will was never to be seen again.

But while he may have felt a touch embarrassed, and rightly so, he managed to bring the 14 women together.

Some of them revealed that they had previously been contacted by 'British Will', with one even having met up with him for a date - which went about as well as this group chat.

One woman said: "Also I went on a date with him. And he def catfished... just FYI."

Another messaged: "British Will might have to change his number haha."

"I never met up with him either but happy to have met you all," said a third.

While another added: "Never met up with him either but he stalked me for months saying 'hey stranger'."

The group name was eventually changed to 'British Will's Angels'.

With one of the women saying: "Thank you, British Will, for connecting us."

Since the horrifying exchange was shared on the Instagram page 'whatisnewyork', it has been liked more then 81,000 times, with hundreds praising the women involved.

One user said: "I love how women can become friends under awkward circumstances."

"I am losing it!!! Sisterhood before dixterhood," quipped a second.

With another joking: "American Will would have never let this happen."

Unlucky, British Will. And well done to every one of his angels.
