A mum has claimed her 10-month-old baby has purchased a $10,000 (£7,090) upgrade for her Tesla. Watch her explain what happened here:

Sharing her tale to TikTok, the woman, using the handle @stayfitstaylit, said she only realised when she checked her bank statement a few days later.

However, unfortunately for her, she claimed Tesla only allows 48 hours for a purchase to be cancelled.

In the video posted to her account, the woman said: "When your 10-month purchases the full self-driving package through the Tesla app and you didn't know until you checked your bank statements, and you find out this is non-refundable 48 hours after purchase."

She added: "Why isn't there a password or security measure before you could make this purchase?"

Since posting the video, it has been viewed more than 1.7 million times, with thousands of people leaving comments.

One user joked: "Yeah blame the baby."

Another said: "My guy flexing that he spent 10k and 'didn't even notice'."

A third commented: "Imagine having 10k in the bank and not noticing that lol."

While another added: "Boy ain't playing with his safety."

In a series of other videos, the mum responded to claims she is lying and her son had nothing to do with it.

Adamant she is telling the truth, she explains she was feeding her child when he was somehow able to buy the upgrade.

Holding her son in a video, she says: "You hear that, maybe I should be watching you. But you were with me the whole time, sitting at the table while I was getting his dinner ready.

"But thanks for your input."

Replying directly to a comment criticising her parenting, the woman also said: "I know we are the worst kind [of parent] and even more bad when you let them play with a iPhone/tablet. Straight to jail."

And when asked why they hadn't tried to dispute the payment, she told another user: "We accepted it [the self-driving package] because we were debating getting it."

LADbible has contacted Tesla for a comment.
