Unfortunate Resemblance Means Shoppers Find Vegan Sausages Hilarious

Their minds really are in the gutter

When one woman innocently posted a photo of some vegan sausages to a Facebook group, people were distinctly amused, as the meat substitute bangers looked more than a little bit rude.

The Australian shopper had taken a photo of the packet, but the sausages had slipped down and reshaped themselves inside the plastic packaging, giving them a wrinkled fleshy effect - and some social media users thought they looked looked a tad... well, penis-y.

Beyond Meat

Posting in the Budget Friendly Meals Australia group, the Facebooker in question wrote: "Just wondering if anyone has tried these vegan sausages from IGA? Opinions please? Are they nice?"

But it soon became all too clear that the inquisitive shopper was much too innocent for the cesspit that is the internet.

The pink-coloured meat-free items certainly attracted a lot of attention from filthy-minded individuals, and of course, people couldn't help but crack a few jokes.

One person commented: "Vegan sausages... that was not my first thought when I saw them."

Another replied saying: "They're willy nice."

A woman joked: "So you're telling me I could have gone to the supermarket instead of getting with my ex?"

Some people tried to stay serious and give her some genuine advice, attempting to pull the post back for her.

One person commented: "Beyond Meat is really good! I've tried the burger patties and you can't tell that they're not made from actual meat."

While another said: "I don't mind them but Aldi's sausages are nicer."

Thanks for trying, guys.

It's not the first time people have seen an unexpectedly phallic side to food items, and it 100 percent won't be the last.

Earlier this year, a man vowed not to eat a carrot that had big 'appendage' vibes.

Michael Coates, 47, pulled the rude veg from its bag after he'd bought it from Tesco and fell about laughing at the shape of it.

He then snapped some photos which appear to show the vegetable with two 'legs' - and a little added extra.

Bespoke tailor Michael, from Stokesley, North Yorkshire, decided to store it in the fridge as a souvenir, unwilling to throw it away.

He said: "It's incredible. I opened it up and there it was, in full glory. I just thought, 'What the heck?'

"What are the chances? It resembles a human being - and a naked one at that! It's unreal. It looks like a pair of legs and a penis. It was strange - but really funny.

"I thought, 'I can't bin that one.' I have put it in the fridge for now. But I know I'll have to throw it out eventually - it will go off."
