Aldi Will Release Christmas Products In June To Celebrate 'Junemas'

The German supermarket is calling its mid-year Christmas celebration 'Junemas'

Aldi has announced that it's bringing out a range of Christmas products in June, which is completely the opposite time of year to the festive season.

Yes, while most of us will be thinking about finally getting out the swimwear and barbecues, Aldi want us to focus more on pigs-in-blankets and mince pies than burgers and beers.

The idea behind this bizarre stunt revolves around the fact that most of us were kept apart from our friends and loved ones last Christmas, so now that we're finally allowed to meet up once again we should - apparently - celebrate 'Junemas' instead.

The concept is simple, it's turkey burgers and Christmas food, but in the heat of the summer months.

What's not to love? The Australians do it every year, don't they?

The special out-of-season Christmas fayre on offer includes giant pigs in blankets kebabs for £2.49 and loaded pigs-in-blankets for £2.99.

Those last ones were so popular that they completely sold out of them last year.

As well as those twists on yuletide classics, there will also be a taste of the German market on offer, too.

Obviously, Aldi is German, so the folks behind the supermarket know their way around a sausage, and you can grab a frankfurter sausage wrapped in bacon and mustard for £2.99.

In homage to the fact that it is barbecue season, Aldi has also released a range of turkey burgers, bringing a festive twist to the outdoor dining season.

Speaking to MailOnline, Julie Ashfield - the managing director of buying at Aldi - said: "As we gear up to celebrate Junemas, we want to make sure our customers have everything they need to make this day truly special.

"So we are delighted to have put the decision into our customers' hands, asking them to cast their vote on their Aldi festive favourites, which they can enjoy alongside some new exciting treats when they reunite with friends and family next month."

If you're looking forward to the idea of Junemas already, you've not got long to go before you can start celebrating.

This whole range of Christmassy treats will hit shelves on 21 June, which is coincidentally - or maybe not - the day that restrictions are set to ease altogether, hopefully marking the end point of what has been a fairly wretched year and a bit.

You'd better get in quickly, because - like every Specialbuys offer - once they're gone, they're gone.

Merry Junemas, everyone.
