Wordle users have been left feeling “helpless” after a gaming error has provided two possible answers to today’s game on Wednesday 16th February 2022.

Players of the daily word game have taken to Twitter to voice their opinions on the gaming mishap in Wordle 242 - which saw two possible answers on the game, according to the different outcomes in The Herald Scotland and Forbes.

Today’s differing answers come after fans were “confused” after getting two different answers to yesterday’s game in Wordle 241.

The latest Wordle mishap comes less than a week after the game was taken over by The New York Times after the original creator, Josh Wardle, sold the game for a currently unknown seven-figure amount.

Warning: Wordle 242 spoilers ahead.

The Herald Scotland reported their finding of today’s wordle is “Aroma”, which was one of yesterday’s possible answers, while Forbes wrote that today’s word was “Caulk”.

The differing answers have caused havoc among players on Twitter, with one very angry gamer taking to the social media platform to write: “nah f*** the new york times. i don't play wordle to be helplessly guessing KUARK LEURK CKAUX like some c***, it was just nice to start the day with a cute little game that would congratulate me for knowing how to spell PLONK and BEANS [sic]”.

“F***ing hate the new wordle what the hell is this double letter s***,” another user unhappily wrote.

@goodintromusic tweeted: “i miss the old #wordle the recent words have hurt my soul.”

Meanwhile, another user wrote: “I don’t care what anyone says. The moment NYTimes took over Wordle this thing got harder. You cannot convince me otherwise.”

The aim of the word game is to try and guess a five-letter word in under six tries.
