A Brazilian bride was murdered on the day of her wedding, and her new husband has been arrested for the crime.
Najylla Duenas Nascimento was just 34 when she walked down the aisle to say her nuptials to the man accused of ending her life just hours later.
The couple, who had married in Campinas, Sao Paulo, on Saturday 9 May, reportedly got into an argument after the ceremony, which led to the man opening fire on his bride.

She didn’t die during the initial firing, but sadly lost her life when her husband is said to have returned to the scene to fire more gunshots.
According to the local authorities, city guard Daniel Barbosa Marinho used his service weapon against Najylla.
He was later arrested on suspicion of femicide (murder of woman/women).

Daniel was employed by the Municipal Guard to act as a law-enforcer in the city, but this is a separate role from the military or police.
In Brazil, the job of a city guard is more on par with armed security. Daniel is said to have worked for them since 1998.
Ultimately, the mum-of-three was sadly pronounced dead at what should have been her wedding party.
According to reports, things went awry when Najylla and Daniel allegedly got into a physical altercation, where relatives felt it necessary to remove their children from the scene.
It was shortly after this that Daniel is said to have shot his wife in the first instance.
Witnesses allegedly went on to reveal to police that Daniel later returned to the property to fire more shots at her, leaving SAMU paramedics to fight to save Najylla’s life upon arrival, but they could not save her.

The Campinas Municipal Guard issued a statement after the mother’s death, stating that Daniel contacted the force after allegedly committing the murder.
From there, officers took him to the 2nd Women’s Defence Police Station, where he was remanded in custody.
The force said of the incident: “The Municipal Guard deeply regrets the incident and reaffirms its commitment to combating all forms of violence.”
