A German tourist became one of the most bizarre missing person's cases ever, after uttering his last reported words and running into a field – sparking conspiracies about his final moments.
In July 2014 Lars Mittank, a tourist, travelled with friends to a resort town near Varna, Bulgaria, where the 28-year-old experienced his first time outside of Germany.
However, what was supposed to be an adventure with friends, ended up in seeing the man never appear in public again.
It all began when he and his pals, who were Werder Bremen fans - got into a disagreement with a bunch of Bayern Munich supporters on 6 July, the last night of their trip.

During the clash, Mittank was allegedly separated from his group, and when he returned, said he'd been attacked.

Now, the reports differ on whether he suffered an injured jaw and a ruptured eardrum thanks to the men, or locals hired by the men, but Mittank was in a bad shape.
So bad in fact that a doctor advised him to delay his flight and to take prescribed antibiotics, cefprozil, to avoid his ear becoming infected.
After checking into an airport hotel, Mittank made a chilling phone call to his mother, where he said he was being followed, and to cancel his credit cards.
Sadly, his thoughts about coming to harm would only increase by the time his flight came around.
It was there, in the airport, that he saw the doctor once again and was told he was cleared to fly.
However, Mittank was apparently displaying signs of nervousness, which, when paired with a construction worker walking into the doctor’s office, led to the man making a run for it.
That’s where security footage would capture him sprinting out of the departure terminal, as his doctor, Kosta Kostov, claimed Mittank fled, yelling: "I don't want to die here! I have to get out of here!"

Airport security footage would see him running through and out of the airport, without any of his luggage or personal belongings, and from there, into a nearby forest.
Since that day, he has never been found.
Conspiracies about that day range from Mittank being involved in drug smuggling, killed or trafficked, or that he had suffered a psychotic episode, with his antibiotics potentially triggering it.
However, it has been 11 years since Mittank went missing, and his body has still not been found, despite extensive search efforts by the Bulgarian authorities.
So, his case remains a mystery.
