A homeless man in Cusco, Peru, who stayed with British backpacker Hannah Almond while she was stranded there after being robbed of her belongings has died.
32-year-old Brit Hannah had travelled to Peru for a yoga retreat, but became stuck there after she was violently robbed and had her belongings burned.
The woman had been sleeping rough on the streets of Cusco since then, and in a GoFundMe her friends set up to pay to get her back to the UK, they said that she had been living under a bridge with a local homeless man she'd made friends with and that he was 'the only person she currently trusts'.

The British consul in Peru said that they had worked with local authorities to provide Hannah with support but she kept returning to a camp under Belén Bridge.
Hannah has since been found and is expected to return to the UK, but the homeless man she stayed with while stranded in Cusco has died, according to local authorities.

Local Peruvian news outlet Diario Correro reports that the elderly homeless man was found dead in his bed yesterday (29 May) after having been taken into a charity home.
He had been 'receiving care' but had been found dead, and had appeared to be healthy enough when he was brought in but he has now passed away.

The Mirror reports that Henry Gonzáles, a legal advisor, said that the man's identity was unknown and he had been admitted into care under the initials 'NN', or 'Ningun Nombre' which means 'no name' in English.
Gonzáles said nothing indicated foul play in the man's death.
His fingerprints will be tested in an attempt to determine his identity and there a public appeal may be launched to ask if anyone knows more about the man.

However, if he cannot be identified then he will be buried in a pauper's grave.

The GoFundMe that was established to raise money that could pay to bring Hannah back to the UK has almost reached its £10k target.
Her friends say the money can pay for her travel costs and help fund any emergency care that the 32-year-old might need.
Hannah had been missing since 24 May, after which time a man named Piero Villanueva, who had previously met her, travelled to Cusco to try and find her on the city streets and was successful in doing so.
He said that the Brit was 'safe and well'.
