The sister of a gangland-figure-turned-kickboxer vowed to get revenge after police said he was shot and killed next to a woman believed to be his girlfriend.

Suleiman 'The Punisher' Abdulrahim was shot multiple times, including in the head, in an underground car park belonging to Quest Hotel on High St in Preston, Melbourne, at about 10am on Tuesday (28 January).

His sister, Ektimal, has since promised to seek revenge for his death saying: "Whoever shot my brother to death, I’m after u mother f**ker.

"I know it’s u dog. Never ends here."

Now, Homicide squad Det Insp Dean Thomas said Abdulrahim was with his girlfriend in the car park when he was shot.

He notes that the body is yet to be formally identified, but believes it was 'The Punisher' who died, according to The Guardian.

Thomas said that Abdulrahim had received threats since 2016 and even spoke to him about his safety.

“She’s doing the very best she can, you’ve got to appreciate she’s been through a very traumatic situation – seeing her boyfriend shot and killed, she’s rendered assistance to him,” Thomas said of his girlfriend.

“We had nothing at this stage to suggest there was a live threat that was imminent, because if we did we would have done what we could to share that information with him.

“He was provided with options [by police in the past] and they’re matters which we won’t share.”

Police noted that they saw a white Porsche SUV leave the scene, which could be linked to the killing.

An associate of Abdulrahim has since shared a tribute on social media.

“It is with great sadness that our dear brother Sam Abdulrahim has tragically passed away and returned to his Lord,” he wrote on Facebook.

“May Allah have mercy on his soul, forgive his sins and give his family patience and strength.”

The 32-year-old fighter has criminal convictions dating back to 2009, and his nickname 'The Punisher' came from an incident in February 2015 when he was one of the four men arrested following a brawl at Melbourne Magistrates Court, reports ABC.

Just months later, he was arrested for driving his Ferrari into four cars, killing an 88-year-old.

He plead guilty to driving charges causing death and to two charges of possession of a drug.

Abdulrahim was sentenced to three years and three months in 2018, but was released in 2019 on parole.
