Vladimir Putin has allegedly been told of an apparent 'British assassination plot' if he were to go through with his meeting with Donald Trump.
The world leaders are set to meet in Budapest, Hungary for more talks on the war between Russia and Ukraine, and a potential resolution.
While Trump led talks for a 'peace deal' agreement between Israel and Hamas in recent weeks, the US president is now solely set on striking a deal between the two Eastern European countries to end their almost four-year long war.
Trump reportedly sat down for a fiery meeting with Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelenskyy last Friday (17 October).
The POTUS allegedly demanded Ukraine hand over the entire Donbas region to Russia as part of a peace deal, warning Putin would 'destroy' the country if he didn't.
Amid all this, a Putin ally has made startling allegations against the UK.
Trump and Putin last met in Alaska, in August this year (Andrew Harnik/Getty Images) Andrey Bezrukov, a former illegal SVR agent working undercover in the US, said he warned Putin: “Do not go to Budapest.”
The Russian foreign intelligence colonel urged his nation's leader to switch the meeting to Dubai, claiming there is an 'absolutely treacherous operation' in the works from the British.
He spoke of his 'very, very serious concerns' of the Hungarian capital, as Bezrukov, who is now a professor at the Moscow State Institute of International Relations (MGIMO), claimed that UK operatives are waiting to assassinate Putin.
Bezrukov claimed that the 'entire mentality' of the British 'is structured in such a way that if Putin doesn't exist, then there's no problem….firstly, Russia will fall apart,' he claimed on Russian state TV.
He added for good measure that due to political divides within the country, 'Britain may soon cease to exist'.
He spoke of the 'drastic' changes facing the UK, adding: “And for them, a blow at us, including, well, an absolutely treacherous operation that could be carried out based on this meeting in Budapest, is a decision. And they will take it.
“They will risk everything, because they are risking everything now.
“And so I would strongly advise against [Putin going to Budapest].”
The Russian propagandists issued a 'warning' to Putin (ALEXANDER ZEMLIANICHENKO/POOL/AFP via Getty Images) It should be noted that he gave no evidence to back his claims up, before being asked by infamous Russian propagandist Vladimir Solovyov how to avoid the assassination risk.
“There's a wonderful country called the United Arab Emirates [which could host the Trump-Putin talks],” Bezrukov said, as Solovyov said that Putin was 'so brave' that he would still probably head to Hungary.
Bezrukov went on: “The Supreme Commander [Putin] represents the country, and here the interests of the country are more important than the courage of one person…..”
Bezrukov was a KGB spy who was an illegal 'sleeper agent' under the pseudonym Donald Howard Heathfield.
The former agent's cover was blown back in 2010 when a Russian glamour spy named Anna Chapman, who was a British citizen, was detained by the FBI.
Putin's touted trip to Budapest would be his first visit since the start of the war against Ukraine in February 2022.
