WW3 fears increase after Switzerland issues chilling warning about 'deteriorating situation'
Fears regarding World War 3 have reached a new high following a new announcement from Switzerland's Government.
The Federal Council - the country's collective head of state and government - has approved the 2026 Security Policy Strategy following a string of on-going concerns.
The war between Russia and Ukraine as well as hybrid threats, critical dependencies and natural hazards are all growing worries for the country, and the strategy overhaul aims to target this.
10 objectives and 46 measures are included in the strategy, which was published on Friday (September 18) via official channels.

The Swiss Federal Government's X account shared the document along with a announcement that left many concerned.
"In response to the deteriorating security situation, Switzerland has three objectives: strengthen resilience, improve protection and enhance defence capabilities.
"The Federal Council has adopted Switzerland’s Security Policy Strategy 2026," it read.
Social media users were quick to highlight that this could be a warning about things to come.
One person said: "When Switzerland of all places starts strengthening it's military, you know sh** is about to go down..."
"Why am I seeing posts today from every country in Europe talking about preparations for war???" another asked.
Aimed at preparing Switzerland for an 'increasingly unstable' world, the policy prioritises strengthening the state's resilience, economy and society, improving the protection of civilians, institutions and infrastructure, and improving defence capabilities.
The 10 objects outlined in the policy are tailored around what officials consider to be likely threats, such as hybrid and remote attacks and organised crime in Switzerland.
The Federal Council said Switzerland must have an effective defence protocol should an armed attack take place, including having established cooperation with partner states in advance.
A statement shared read: "The international security situation has become increasingly unstable and volatile.
"Rivalries between major powers have intensified, and armed conflicts are increasingly shaping the global environment. The international order is becoming progressively weaker."
It continued by stating there is 'no end in sight' to Russia's war against Ukraine, which has been on-going since 2014, and that 'hybrid threats' including cyber attacks are 'on the rise'.
"Critical infrastructure is made more vulnerable by its high level of interconnectivity. It is also vital to safeguard domestic security and mitigate risks posed by natural hazards and pandemics," the statement concluded.
It has been confirmed that implementation of the new strategy is underway and a progress report will be shared in 2028.
