X-Factor Australia finalist Johnny Ruffo has recently shared some news about his cancer journey half a decade after he was first diagnosed.

The 34-year-old singer shared snaps to his Instagram to mark the grim milestone.

“Still fighting this son of a b***h,” he captioned the carousel of photos documenting the five years he has been battling the disease.

The photos featured Ruffo in a hospital bed throughout the years. He used the hashtag #f**kcancer and followed it up by thanking all his fans for the support.

The former Home and Away actor was diagnosed with a rare brain cancer in 2017, with Johnny announcing two years later that he was all clear of the horrific disease after invasive brain surgery.

He revealed that he had a 7cm tumour removed from his right frontal lobe, which would’ve killed him had it not been taken out. However, in November 2020, he shared that his cancer had come back.

Some big-name Aussie stars encouraged Ruffo to keep battling, with Dave Hughes writing: “Your smile inspires the world, legend."

Cameron Daddo posted: “Brave and inspiring brother ... silky dancer too!”

Larry Emdur added: “Luv ya mate."

Former Home and Away co-stars also gave their support, including words from Dan Ewing, Georgie Parker, Kyle Pryor, and Emily Symons.

The post comes weeks before the release of his upcoming memoir, No Finish Line, which is set to be released on August 30.

Ruffo will cover the negative impacts of fame on his life, which he says made him believe 'cancer actually saved his life'.

The biography will hit shelves in September, released with Echo Publishing.
