Evil Dead star Bruce Campbell shares health update after revealing 'treatable but not curable' cancer diagnosis
Bruce Campbell has shared a health update after revealing he had ‘treatable but not curable’ cancer back in March.
The 68-year-old star has opened up about his treatment and health during a recent episode of the Inside of You with Michael Rosenbaum podcast.
“I think I’m doing as well as you can do for having cancer,” Campbell said.
“I mean, I go through most of my day not thinking that I have any cancer.”

The Evil Dead star then shared some insight into how he felt when he was first given the diagnosis.
“There [were] a couple of early months where you’re first getting information that you didn’t know, that you didn’t want, right? And that’s bad,” he continued.
“We would like for breakfast, we’d have a s**t sandwich with a side of what the f**k.
“That was a couple of months’ period where the information would come in and, you know, all of it’s, like, cryptic or bad or whatever.”
Campbell said he scans and various cancer appointments and meetings were the ‘most boring’ part of living with the disease as he compared it to ‘Whac-a-Mole’.
He explained: “So your cancer goes, ‘Hey, what’s going on over here? Let me wiggle into this.’
“And then you go, ‘Oh, why does this feel like it does? Did I throw my back out?’ No. You’ve been invaded. Right?”
Campbell shared that he was currently ‘in between whacks’ and said the cancer was ‘in its hole right now’ but that he was ‘ready with his hammer’.
“The clinical phrase that — I love these phrases — it’s treatable, not curable,” Campbell added.
“It’ll be something that will be with me until I croak, which, with treatment, is earlier than you want to croak.”
Looking ahead, Campbell said he plans to ‘do treatment that I can deal with and that works’, before saying he had ‘tons of hope’.
He also explained how his diagnosis had given him a different perspective on life.
“If you want to get your financial house in order from A to Z, get cancer," he said.
"If you want to rekindle with friends and family that you haven’t talked to in decades, get cancer. If you want to refocus your life, laser focus only on the things that bring you joy and remove the drudgery from your life forever, get cancer.”
Campbell shared his diagnosis with his fans back in March writing: “These days, when someone is having a health issue, it’s referred to as an ‘opportunity,’ so let’s go with that — I’m having one of those.
“It’s also called a type of cancer that’s ‘treatable’ not ‘curable.’ I apologise if that’s a shock — it was to me too.
“The good news is, I’m not gonna go into any more detail. I’m posting this, because professionally, a few things will have to change - appearances and cons and work in general need to take a back seat to treatment.
“My plan is to get as well as I possibly can over the summer so that I can tour with my new movie Ernie & Emma this fall.
“There are several cons this year summer that I have to cancel. Big regrets on my part. Treatment needs and professional obligations don’t always go hand-in-hand.”
Wrapping up the statement, Campbell reassured fans he was a ‘tough old son-of-a-bitch’ and said he that he planned to ‘be around a while’.
