Couple Stumble Across This Massive Spider While Out For A Walk

Nope.

Generally speaking, the world can be split into groups - those who don't mind spiders and those who despise the creepy little buggers.

I'm firmly in the haters camp when it comes to spiders. They're too quick, they've got too many legs and if you've ever seen a close-up photo of one and not shuddered then I think you might be a robot.

Luckily for me, in the UK most spiders are pretty small. They don't seem small when it's 3am and they're crawling along your ceiling, but they are.

And so, to New Zealand where a couple found this spider, which is the same size as a fucking dinner plate.

Baylee Bensley-Howell and her partner Anaru Mikaere were out for a lovely walk in Christchurch, New Zealand, when they came across this horrific sight.

The massive spider, which appeared to be guarding its eggs, had dark red legs and black body with white stripes. And it's just so much nope, isn't it?

Baylee, who reckons the spider was 15cms wide, told Stuff.nz: "It was really cool looking.

"I was staying away from it. My boyfriend was quite nervous that it was suddenly going to jump up at him.

"We pretty much walk down there every day for my dog. That's the first time I've seen a spider in that area that hasn't been tiny."

Can I suggest you take a different route from now on, guys?

Speaking to the Daily Mail, Baylee added: "My boyfriend was startled when he saw it. I was just grateful that I was seeing it out in nature and not in my bedroom.

"I definitely think it was a mumma spider, she seemed docile but I wouldn't want to mess with her."

Yeah, I don't think anyone would blame you on that one, Baylee.

According Dr Simon Pollard, a professor of science communication as Canterbury University, the spider is a native nursery-web spider, and while it looks like something from a horror movie, it's harmless.

In Australia, however, pest control expert Noel Parminter discovered the worst infestation of his 16-year-long career...

He found the massive huntsman spider and her babies on the roof of a Kholo home in Queensland. For some reason, he went to investigate in the dark. First the tiny spiders scatter when he shines a light on the nest before a foot-long mother spider appears on camera.
