As the civil war in Syria rages on in its fourth year, the city of Aleppo sees continued fighting between Syrian Armed Forces under the control of President Assad's Syrian Government and rebel forces under the umbrella of the Free Syrian Army who control large parts of the city.

A video released by Sky News documents the story of one man's fight against Assad's forces.

Five years ago Mohammed was a builder. Now he kills Syrian regime soldiers, from several sniper positions.

"I started as a fighter in al Safwa brigade, in the Free Syria Army. After two years I applied to train as a sniper thank god I mastered it, I came second in training," he tells the camera.

Mohammed has 11 children and one of his sons died fighting Assad. His family is now in Turkey and he hasn't seen them for three years.

He now claims to be protecting school children in the city, as many schools have closed because of airstrikes and the continued bloody conflict. Sky News reports that he is known as their 'grandfather'.

"We want to get rid of this tyrant, it's not only that but also to protect our religion, defend our land, our women, our everything," he says. "The children who are dying under the rubble."

As you can imagine, what he does carries enormous risks and Mohammed has been injured many times, but he has little regret about his decision to fight.

But he says: "I'm proud of every drop of blood I lose, all my injuries are like a crown."
