Sarah Bertrand gave birth to her son, Julian, in a hospital in Louisiana last week, but just hours later she was dead.

Doctors believe Sarah developed a blood clot during labour, which caused her to have a heart attack. Her husband, Jean Luc Montou, has spoken of his absolute devastation on social media.

The welder and fabricator has posted several photos of his beloved Sarah with the caption: "Still doesn't even feel real. It just happened within moments and she was gone. I loved this woman so much and there was no warning. She was so happy to have little Julian. I miss her so much."

The posts have been liked and shared hundreds of times, with complete strangers sending their condolences. Dotty VanPelt: "So very sorry for your loss. You don't know me, but I know the pain of loss. Love your children every minute of every day, and keep pictures of her where the children can see them, so they can remember or learn her face. You can teach them her heart and love. May she rest in peace."

Unfortunately for Jean and his two kids, Sarah didn't have life insurance. He's started a fundraising page to help him with raise his family. On the site, Jean says: "I'm left with my daughter Jane and my brand-new son Julian with nothing to help. Sarah wanted everything for Julian and he made her so happy.

"I had never seen her so strong, so confident, and so joyful as when she held her new baby boy. While I miss her so much myself, as well as her entire family, this is intended to leave something for Julian and to help with Sarah's sudden funeral costs.

"She only wanted the best for our son and the least I can do is try to get help, since she won't be around to do so. While she will be missed so much, I want to honour her memory by raising Julian to be the best man I can make him, but it will be so hard with her sudden loss."

At the time of writing, the page was close to reaching its $8,000 (£6,207) goal.
