Boy Gets Tapeworm Removed After Drinking From A Well

Probably the rankest thing on the Internet.

If you haven't had your fill of gross stuff on the Internet today, then you are in for a treat with this one.

Doctors in China have just removed a three-inch long tapeworm from the brain of a 10-year-old boy. Yup, you read that correctly, a tapeworm in the brain.

The boy, Xiaofei, had suffered with facial and body twitching and was receiving treatment for the problems, the Daily Mail reports. The treatments didn't seem to be working and actually adversely deteriorated. Eventually, someone at the hospital performed a CT scan and it was only then that doctor Wu Jie began to suspect there was a parasite living in little Xiaofei's brain. Poor lad.

Luckily, once they knew what they were dealing with, they were able to operate on him and the surgeon removed the disgusting worm.

Doctor Wu Kie reckons Xiaofei picked up the parasite from drinking untreated water from the local well.

Understandably, his mother was pretty shocked to see the worm. She said: "I'd never imagine there could be such a long worm in my son's head." She went on to say that almost every household in the village drinks this water. Let's hope other water is readily available to them as soon as possible.

His doctors warned that people can also get these brain worms from eating raw frogs and snakes, too. I'm not going to dwell on that one for too long.
