For centuries astronomers have searched the depths of space for extra-terrestrial beings. Philosophers too have questioned what would happen when contact was made with foreign life forms.
How should we go about making contact? Is it even wise to make contact? Who should be handed such a task?
Now it seems the final question, at least, has been answered.
Step aside all challengers, This Morning's Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby were the man and woman tasked with establishing contact with alien life.

Vinny Ohh, 22, from Los Angeles in California, has so far spent $50,000 (£40,000) on over 110 procedures to transform into a 'genderless extra-terrestrial'.
And ze told the This Morning presenters that ze (gender neutral pronoun) hopes to have the surgery to remove zir genitalia in Thailand or Sweden.
Vinny believes ze is neither male nor female but 'a hybrid', and said ze will raise a family in the future and that ze didn't 'need sexual organs to do so'.
Speaking about the procedure, Vinny told presenters Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield: "I do not see myself having regrets when I am 70.
"I see myself adopting kids and raising them, that's totally fine. I don't need sexual organs to do so."
Vinny embarked on having cosmetic procedures after feeling like a social outcast when ze was growing up. Ze began at 17 with lip fillers, before having two rhinoplasties, multiple cheeks and brow bone fillers.
Ze now plans to fork out another £130,000 on surgery to have genitalia, nipples and bellybutton removed.
And, when Holly asked whether ze was worried about getting into a relationship with anyone, ze said: "I'm not interested in a relationship, and having a relationship in LA is not a possibility.
"For someone who's gender non-binary, it's hard.
"I don't really care if someone falls in love with me. I'm more interested in the young freaks in community to make them feel not so weird."

Vinny previously said: "I want to be a sexless alien being, I want my outside to reflect how I feel on the inside.
"The overall image I want to do is an alien. I want to be a hybrid, not male or female.
"I've wanted to be sexless and genderless since I was 17, I've been going to doctors to see if it's possible but had no luck.
"I don't want people to think I'm trying to change into a woman.
"I could live without sexual organs so why should I have a penis or a vagina?

"So far, I've had $50,000 in skincare and procedures including two rhinoplasties, facial fillers in my lips, cheeks and brow bone all to look extra-terrestrial.
"I do kind of look like a Martian. I have a really big head, no eyebrows and I've just been connecting with that.
"When people ask me how I'd label myself, I tell them an 'extra-terrestrial, hot mess, self-obsessed' it's becoming my slogan."
