Tyson Fury announces comeback from retirement and explains reason behind it

He's not done with boxing just yet

Tyson Fury has made a U-turn on his retirement plans by sharing a new video explaining why he's decided to return to boxing. Check it out:

In the clip shared on his Twitter account today (9 August), the 33-year-old heavyweight champion said: "I've decided to come back to boxing because I can be the first heavyweight champion in history to have two trilogies - one with Deontay Wilder and a second one with Derek Chisora.

"I always said I'd fight Derek Chisora again in my career, and here we are, breaking all records again."

Fury already beat Chisora in the ring twice in 2011 and then 2014, and it looks like he's hoping to bag a third victory by calling on the 38-year-old boxer for a rematch.

The news arrives after the self-proclaimed 'Gypsy King' announced his retirement following his defeat of Dillian Whyte in a sixth round knockout back in April.

In his post-fight interview, Fury said: "You know I promised my lovely wife Paris of 14 years that after the Wilder three fight that would be it and I meant it. It was a great trilogy but I meant that.

"I got offered to fight at Wembley at home and I believe I owed it to the fans, I owed it to every person in the United Kingdom to come here and fight at Wembley.

"And now it's all done, I have to be a man of my word and I think this is it, this might be the final curtain for the Gypsy King. And what a way to go out."

However, the fans weren't convinced, especially after Fury appeared to be open to the idea of an MMA/boxing crossover fight with UFC heavyweight champion Francis Ngannou.

But for now, the athlete has his heart set on picking up the boxing gloves once more for a potential third match with Chisora.

Elaborating on why he's enlisted featherweight champion Isaac Lowe as his trainer, Fury explained: "When I was with Peter [Fury], Isaac was there. When I was with Ben [Davidson], Isaac was there."

He continued: "He's always given me information, he knows me better than anybody on the planet, and we're a great team.

"We've always been together and we're going to finish this out together. We've always worked very well together and here we are, about to take on a massive, massive, massive event."

Well, it looks like the ball is in Chisora's court - watch this space.
