Shailene Woodley responds to Aaron Rodgers claims she wanted to sleep with someone else before marriage

Shailene Woodley has responded to comments made by her ex Aaron Rogers in a recent interview.

Speaking to the Not Just Football podcast on YouTube, Rogers, 42, made references to their previous relationship, which even involved them getting engaged in December 2020, including claiming that Woodley had asked to sleep with someone else before they got married, though he didn't say who.

“She said yes. … A couple days after that she tells me, ‘Before we get married I gotta go **** this guy'," he told the podcast.

Rogers went on to say that his engagement to Woodley, who is known for her roles in the Divergent film series and A Fault in Our Stars, would not last long as she 'took off the ring' in March 2021.

Now, Woodley has been asked about the interaction, giving a reaction which while not dramatic still could be interpreted as speaking volumes.

Woodley had been going to a fundraiser before the Emmys when she was questioned by a reporter about Rogers' comments on the podcast.

“Any comment about Aaron Rodgers?” the reporter asked in a video shared by TMZ.

Woodley heard the question, stopping dead before turning to where the voice was, and laughing.

Rogers did not hold back in the podcast interview, speaking about his past relationships, including Woodley, saying: “Her story is that I ruined her life and gave her a crazy depression because I left her.

“We had a couple of times where we tried to, you know, get reunited, and nothing ever happened.”

Describing the engagement, he said: “I propose, and she says yes. She maybe felt like she was forced to make a decision. She could have said no.”

For her part, Woodley has previously spoken about the relationship and the separation in an interview with Outside, where she described it as 'traumatic'.

“I felt like I lost my soul, my self, my happiness, my joy,” she said. “I really understood depression and anxiety and, like, complete soul detachment.”

Woodley recently took home the award for Outstanding Guest Actress in a Drama Series at the primetime Emmys for her performance in Paradise.

Accepting the award at the ceremony, Woodley thanked her mum, and told the assembled audience: "I just feel so lucky to do what we do and be part of the circus with all of you amazing, travelling storytelling clowns. I love it."

She added: "Thank you so much, this is such an honour and I just really love doing our art. Thank god for artists."

Other actors who won over the evening included Stephen Colbert, Jean Smart, Allison Janney, as well as Matthew Rhys who became the first actor to win two awards for a leading role on the same night.

Tributes were made to actor Catherine O'Hara by Annie Murphy, Dan Levy, and Macaulay Culkin, all of whom had played her on-screen children in the TV series Schitt's Creek and the Home Alone films.

Culkin said: "She may have forgotten me... twice! But we will always remember her."

There were also special tributes made during the ceremony to legendary singer and philanthropist Dolly Parton. Actor Sally Field, who had starred alongside Parton, said: "God bless you Dolly Parton my friend, I am not the only one on Earth who will love you for ever and ever."
