Since the 2022 Qatar World Cup began on 20 November, the focus for the most part has been on matters on the pitch.

From Morocco becoming the first African nation to reach the semi-finals, to the shock eliminations of Germany and Belgium in the group stage - this World Cup has had it all.

But for a brief few moments, the attention turned from the pitch to an unknown couple in the crowd during the match between Croatia and Brazil on 9 December - where Croatia progressed by winning through penalties.

A clip has gone viral of this unknown couple as a man watching the game at home filmed his TV screen while watching the game on BBC. Watch it below:

The unfortunate couple's moment in the limelight was shared by a Twitter user who goes by the name @acevengecko, and was also reposted by the popular Instagram account @thearchbishopofbanterbury.

The video shows a man holding up his phone to the woman he is sat next to so she can use the camera to apply some eyeliner.

Within seconds of the clip, the man can be seen turning his head and winking a couple of times at another person in the stadium.

Almost instantly after he did the cheeky wink, the woman looks up from doing her make-up and it's fair to say she doesn't exactly look best pleased.

The man was caught on camera winking at another person.

Whether that is from the man winking at other people, or the way he is holding up the camera - something has seemingly annoyed her.

The Twitter user who filmed the clip from his TV did a voiceover, joking that the man had been 'busted' and also commenting on the apparent regret on the man's face following the incident.

And people are social media tend to agree, with many convinced that the man has been 'busted' by the woman.

One person on Twitter said: "Crazy how your woman got superpowers to know when you on some bs."

A lot of people on social media think he has been 'busted'.

Another person added their view: "He has a simple but good wife. I think she doesn’t like the game but she wants to keep him company.

"He can watch his favourite game while she’s doing her thing. Funny awkward but lovely couples, imo."

And a third person added: "Bruh fr she wasn’t even looking at him, how tf did she know??"

The original post was captioned with: "Best thing I've seen at the World Cup so far" - and it is fair to say many will be remembering this viral clip for a while.
