Fans have similar complaint about Wrexham open-top promotion parade on BBC

Yesterday marked a huge moment for Wrexham football club.

After months of battling it out on the pitch, the players and staff got to celebrate their promotion to the football league with their fans.

Thousands lined the streets of the Welsh city to watch on as their heroes passed by during their open-top bus parade.

As well as the players, of course, the club's Hollywood owners, Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney, also joined the celebrations.

And the entire thing was shown on BBC News, with fans tuning in to see how it went.

But not everyone was as excited by the event as others, with many left feeling it was a little OTT.

Taking to social media to express their befuddlement at the whole situation, one viewer said: "Absolutely lost for words, BBC national news showing live coverage of Wrexham's open top bus parade?!"

Another asked: "The third story on the BBC news site right now is live coverage of Wrexham's open-top bus parade. I've never known the site to report any football celebrations, let alone a bus parade. But because Hollywood folk and Disney are involved, it's justified, isn't it?"

"Why the f**k are the BBC streaming Wrexham’s entire open top bus parade?" cried a third.

While someone else quipped: "Can't be much news. BBC news 24 has wall to wall coverage of the Wrexham parade."

The Hollywood owners joined them on the parade.

Not everyone was so Scrooge-like in their dismissal of the parade, though.

Some argued that moments like this are just as important for smaller clubs as they are for the country's top teams.

"Jumped on the bandwagon and took my little lad to the Wrexham parade," wrote one. "Absolutely brilliant, the town is buzzing. Potential is massive. Football is only a game, but look what it can do to places and it’s people. Amazing."

Another chipped in: "Brilliant open top bus parade by Wrexham, so pleased for the community and all Wrexham fans that after 15 years they are back in the football league next season."

Thousands lined the streets for the celebrations.

"An incredible season and a fantastic turnout by @Wrexham_AFC people for the parade," commented a third fan. "This has been a very special night."

While yet another viewer said: "Loving watching the great scenes in Wrexham during the victory parade on TV.

"Gutted not able to make it over but we in Germany have had a brilliant season and we managed to get to the Boreham Wood game...... Even if we were a bit quiet with the away fans."

Congratulations, lads!
