It might be time for Grand Theft Auto fans to get excited, as it looks as though GTA 6 might be released pretty soonish.

Rockstar Games has posted an advert for games testers on LinkedIn, prompting some fans to speculate that means that the game could be in its final stages. Exciting, eh?

Rockstar Games talent acquisition lead Kiran Kumar posted an advert revealing that the company was looking for testers in Rockstar India, with a recruitment drive set to take place on 16 and 17 November in Pune.

The advert has appeared on LinkedIn.

The ad reads: "Would you like an opportunity to work amongst some of the most creative talent in the video game industry? Rockstar India, developer of Grand Theft Auto and Red Dead Redemption, is hiring."

The job specifies it is looking for 'freshers with knowledge and expertise of Rockstar's games up to two years."

Naturally, gamers have jumped to the conclusion that the game that needs testing is non-other than the new GTA... but, as yet, Rockstar is keeping schtum about a sixth game.

On Reddit one eagle-eyed fan spotted that the single image used in the ad was directly from Grand Theft Auto, rather than using a compilation of Rockstar titles. OK, so maybe it's a bit of a reach, but let's go with it.

Another added that he reckoned the post 'definitely means that GTA 6' is approaching the Alpha or BETA phase and is now almost set to be tested, but of course, at this point this is all just wishful thinking from eager fans.

And, fair play, it's been six years since GTA 5 was released, all the way back in 2013, so fans are getting a bit impatient.

Speculation about a release date has been swirling for months, with one source suggesting it could be tipped for a Christmas 2020 launch date, landing at roughly the same time as the PS5.

In October last year, Rockstar Games boss Dan Houser told GQ he was glad that he wasn't releasing the sixth game in the franchise during the 'age of Trump'.

He said the game would most likely 'suffer' and that he's "thankful" that GTA 6 isn't releasing in today's political climate, adding: "It's really unclear what we would even do with it, let alone how upset people would get with whatever we did.

"Both intense liberal progression and intense conservatism are both very militant, and very angry. It is scary but it's also strange, and yet both of them seem occasionally to veer towards the absurd.

"It's hard to satirise for those reasons. Some of the stuff you see is straightforwardly beyond satire. It would be out of date within two minutes, everything is changing so fast."

So maybe he's hoping that Trump will lose in November 2020 and the game can land just a few short weeks later, eh?
