Call Of Duty Teams Up With 'Post Malone' For New Black Ops IIII Trailer

Call Of Duty Teams Up With 'Post Malone' For New Black Ops IIII Trailer

Activision and Treyarch released a new Call of Duty: Black Ops IIII trailer featuring world famous rapper Post Malone during a live NFL game on CBS.

As part of the CODNation campaign, Malone took centre stage to show off the upcoming first-person shooter, and it's as memorable as it is creepy.

You might have been able to tell, but it wasn't actually Post Malone. The resemblance was uncanny and he somehow sounded better than usual, but no - it wasn't him.

Now that we've got that cleared up, well done Clonky_ding - the creator of said trailer - you've got way too much time on your hands. But why did Clonky make it? And how on Earth did it snag a spot on live TV?

The trailer is part of a new marketing ploy from Activision and Treyarch, CODNation which encourages the Call of Duty community to create promotional content for Black Ops IIII. In other words, the marketing team wanted a couple days off.

Although Clonky's gained the most views, the Post Malone clip wasn't the only video to go viral. You can watch one created by Bobbynad3s just above, which pays homage to national treasure Sir David Attenborough.

Who knew that learning how helicopters mate could persuade you into buying a game? Very clever, Bobby. I wonder if we'll see this feature on the next series of Planet Earth...

Anyway, we've got one more for you from MazelyBurke, and it could be the strangest of the lot.

Yep, not a clue. Hats off to you, Activision and Treyarch - marketing done right. You can keep an eye out for more Black Ops IIII fan-made trailers here, and make sure you let us know what you think about the campaign and whether you'll be creating a video.

Call of Duty: Black Ops IIII releases on 12 October for Xbox One, PS4, and PC.
